What This Site Is

HGV Accountants is an information and enquiry website for HGV drivers, owner-drivers and haulage operators. Accountancy work arising from an enquiry is delivered by Tidy Money Ltd, company number 06509733, under a separate engagement agreed in writing with you.

Using this site or sending an enquiry does not create a professional engagement. An engagement begins when you accept a written quote and the terms that come with it.

The Information On It

Everything published here is general information about UK tax, VAT and goods vehicle operator licensing. It is not advice on your own affairs and it cannot take account of your circumstances.

Rules, thresholds and published amounts change. Every technical page names the official sources it was written from and the date those sources were last checked. Check the source before acting on a figure or a date, and take advice on your own position before making a decision that turns on it.

Nothing on this site should be relied on for operator licensing compliance, drivers' hours, tachograph, maintenance or Driver CPC obligations. Those are matters for your transport manager and, where needed, a licensing consultant or a transport lawyer.

The Calculators

The financial standing calculator and the cost per mile calculator are indicative tools. They use published rates and your own inputs, and they show the arithmetic so you can check it.

The financial standing figure is an indication, not a licensing decision. The Office of the Traffic Commissioner decides what is required in your case and what evidence it will accept. The cost per mile figure is illustrative and does not replace management accounts.

Neither tool stores anything you type. Nothing entered into a calculator leaves your browser.

Links to Other Sites

This site links to official guidance on GOV.UK and to public records. Those sites are not under our control and we are not responsible for their content, though we do re-check the links we depend on and record the date we last did so.

Liability

The site is provided as it is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on general information published here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

If Something Goes Wrong

If something on this site is wrong, out of date or unclear, tell us through the enquiry form and we will correct it.

If you are a client of the accountancy practice and want to complain about the work, the practice's own engagement letter sets out how to do that, and that is the process to follow. We have not published a separate complaints procedure here because doing so would imply a formal process on this site that does not exist.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
